With summer in full swing, there is still plenty of time to start those seasonal landscaping projects you envisioned all winter. Whether it be working in the garden or adding a little water feature or two, there is no time better than now to get outside and get your hands dirty. Before you embark, however, our team at Green Side Landscaping wanted to provide you with a couple of tips and tricks to ensure you are using materials to their best potential and have impeccable results. Here are just a few to keep in mind during your summer landscaping projects this year.
Be Smart With Water Usage
Firstly, it is important that you do not overwater or underwater your plants, grass, etc. Make sure you know what soil you use and are keeping in mind the depth of your plants. If you have an irrigation system set up, keep in mind how much water output is coming from them. From the sustainability aspect, it is important that you do not waste water, especially if you are located in areas known for drought. This can be mitigated by choosing plant life that can withstand dry spells.
Cannot Forget Maintenance
Getting everything set up with your landscaping projects is one thing. But keeping up with it? That is a whole other beast. It is integral that you keep your attention high on your landscaping, whether to be the overall health of your plants and lawn to possible invasive pests that can cause extra damage. After all, what is the point of working on these projects if you do not plan on keeping up with maintenance once completed?
Keep Your Health in Mind
With July having scorching temperatures coming through, being outside for long periods of time can cause severe health risks. When working outside, be sure that you are properly hydrated at all times, as dehydration can catch up to you in no time. And because you will be basking in the sun, regularly applying sunscreen throughout the day will prevent any possible burns. And for some added shade, put on a hat, too.
